Hoot is a main character in Peep and the Big Wide World.

Appearance[]

Hoot is mostly a light purplish-gray with dark purplish-gray wings, feet, ear tufts and beak. She has two circular yellow eyes with black pupils.

Personality[]

Hoot is shown to be very wise and kind, like Nellie. She dislikes Quack because he is dim-witted. Hoot is nice to Chirp and Peep but impatient and menacing with characters such as Dragonfly.

Information[]

Hoot lives in a tree in the Deep Dark Woods. After Peep and Chirp brought a feather Hoot had lost to the tree, they became great friends with her.

The Windy Day[]

After Chirp landed in a tree, Peep went into The Deep Dark Woods and told Hoot about it. Hoot help Chirp home by flying her through the sky.

Birds of a Feather[]

Peep found a feather and Squeak knew who it came from. Peep and Chirp went into the Deep dark woods to find the owner. When Peep and Chirp arrived at the tree, they met Hoot who was the owner of the feather. Hoot told Peep and Chirp who she is and they learned that owls aren't scary.

Peep’s Night Out[]

Squeak heard a sound and Peep knew it was Hoot. When Hoot arrived, Peep told her about his night. Hoot told Peep that she is glad that he thinks the night is beautiful and asked Quack if she is well. After Peep and Squeak leave, Hoot said goodnight to them.

The Many Moons of Quack the Duck[]

When Quack and some other animals were staying up late, Hoot arrived and told them that they were bothering the night animals. Quack told Hoot that he was trying to prove that there are more than one moon and even counted the one in the day. After staying up in the morning and finding the moon, Hoot took Peep, Chirp and Quack to Newton who claimed that he has never seen more than one moon.

Falling Feathers[]

Some of Quack’s feathers had fallen off so Chirp went into The Deep Dark Woods to talk to Hoot about it. Hoot told Chirp that Quack was molting, which is when birds lose their old feathers and new ones grow in their place.

  • Oddly, in The Deep Duck Woods, she doesn't appear, though a sound of an owl hooting is heard.
